Retrospectives and Reflections: 20 Years of IT Professional

Twenty or so years ago it seemed like the Computer Society’s (CS’s) primary focus was on topics from the discipline of computer science— the theoretical underpinnings of what computing industry practitioners worked on in their professional lives. Folks who were industry practitioners, and even some like me who were faculty in IS or IT academic departments (which I define as the practitioner end of the computing spectrum) felt marginalized by this focus.
